We’ll walk the final stretch of the Camino Francés, beginning in Sarria and ending in Santiago de Compostela. This is the most popular section, covering about 70 miles (115 km) over six walking days, which qualifies you to receive the official Compostela certificate.

How many miles do we walk each day?
Daily distances range from 11–17 miles (18–28 km), with rolling hills. While not mountain trekking, it does require stamina and preparation.
What is the terrain like?
Mostly country paths, forest trails, and small village roads, with some cobblestone and paved stretches. Galicia is known for its green hills, stone walls, and eucalyptus groves, so expect varied and scenic walking.
Do I have to carry my backpack every day?
No. Your main luggage will be transported daily from one hotel to the next. You’ll only carry a small daypack with essentials (water, snacks, rain jacket, devotional materials).
Do I need to train?
Yes — we recommend training with walks of 5–10 miles on consecutive days before departure to prepare for back-to-back hiking. Break in your shoes well ahead of time.
Where will we stay?
We’ll stay in a mix of comfortable hotels and rural guesthouses (casas rurales) along the route. These offer private baths when available and are more comfortable than standard pilgrim hostels (albergues).
Are meals included?
Yes. Daily breakfast and dinner are included, with a few group lunches provided. You’ll also have opportunities to try local specialties like pulpo a la gallega (octopus) in Melide or Arzúa cheese.
Where does the trip start and end?
The program begins with arrival in Sarria and ends in Santiago de Compostela. Group transfers are provided from Santiago Airport to Sarria at the start, and back to the airport at the end.
What if I need a break from walking?
A support vehicle is available for emergencies or if you’re unable to complete a stage. Travelers should be prepared to walk daily, but we understand flexibility is sometimes needed.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
No — our guide and local hosts will assist. Still, pilgrims often enjoy learning a few simple Spanish phrases for greetings and thanks.
How is this Camino faith-based?
Each day begins or ends with a devotional reflection from Pilgrim’s Progress, connecting Christian themes to the Camino experience. Group discussions and prayer times are woven into the journey.
Will we receive the Compostela certificate?
Yes. Completing the Sarria to Santiago route qualifies pilgrims for the Compostela certificate, which you’ll collect at the Pilgrims’ Office in Santiago.
What cultural experiences are included?
Beyond walking, we’ll enjoy local cuisine tastings, traditional Galician music, historic church visits, and the Pilgrim’s Mass at Santiago Cathedral. If scheduled, we may also see the Botafumeiro ceremony.

Yes — travel insurance is highly recommended. It protects you in case of trip cancellation, medical emergencies, or lost luggage.
What’s the best time of year to go?
The best seasons are late spring (May–early June) and early fall (September–early October). Weather is mild, the countryside is beautiful, and crowds are lighter than peak summer.
Will I have Wi-Fi or cell service?
Yes, most hotels and guesthouses have Wi-Fi. Cell coverage is good, but can be spotty in rural stretches.
Is this the full Camino?
No — the full Camino Francés takes 30+ days from France. Our program covers the final and most significant portion, which has been the traditional minimum distance required for the Compostela since the Middle Ages.
Will the itinerary be exactly as advertised?
We make every effort to follow the itinerary as planned. However, schedules in Israel can be affected by flight delays, local conditions, security guidance, or weather. On rare occasions, sites may close unexpectedly or require rescheduling.
If adjustments are needed, our team will provide the closest possible equivalent experience, ensuring that the spiritual and cultural goals of the trip remain intact. Your safety, comfort, and experience always guide these decisions.
